Carbrooke Heritage News: March 2016

Our last meeting, was very constructive. We are looking forward to starting the ‘Living History’ project, we will be approaching Carbrooke residents, to enquire if they are willing to take part, as we ask if we could take a photo of their house, and whether they would be interested in getting involved with finding out more of its history. The properties will be plotted onto a map and create a ‘history’ of our community as it is now. The information will be compiled into a book later in the year.

We have been discussing the possibility for some time, of creating a ‘historical village map’, so visitors can navigate to the interesting spots in our area. A relation of one of our group produces individual personalised signwriting, and hopefully he will be able to create an individual Carbrooke  map for the village.

Future event: On Friday 17th June, 7.30pm. Tom Thurston will be presenting a talk

‘The History of the Heavy Horse’, in the village hall. All welcome.

Our next meeting will be held on 13th April, 7pm. Brakehill Lodge, Shipdham Lane, Carbrooke.

All welcome to our informal meetings.
