Carbrooke Heritage News: February 2016

Our last meeting, was very constructive

When I drive along the Norwich Road, I find it very difficult to imagine how this area of Carbrooke looked even just 5 years ago. Then it was still (ex RAF) grassland. Now we have a mini market, shops, residential home and housing. These changes at the time seemed to be a major upheaval, but once completed, it is almost as if they have always been there.

Our whole area is facing enormous changes over the coming years, as we struggle to keep up with having enough homes for us all, as well as the infra structure required for an increasing population.

The Heritage group would like to log ‘Carbrooke now’, by inviting all residents to take a picture of their house (and themselves if they would like – selfie time!) to create a photographic record of Carbrooke as we are now.

Whether you live in an old house, modern house, council house, flat, bungalow, ex- RAF house, farmhouse or barn conversion, all these different building styles are what make Carbrooke an individual village. By logging the buildings we have today, we can also work backwards too, and look into their history.

We would like to invite all residents to come along and share their photos, and create a village story and map in photos later in the year.

All welcome to our informal meetings.
