Carbrooke Heritage News: May 2013

Have you ever considered writing down your memories?

Having a computer makes it easy, but a notepad and pen, or even a tape recorder is just as effective. Jot down memories as they come to you, or write it as a novel  if you feel adventurous, they are your memories, and can be logged however you like. If you are embarrassed  keep it to yourself, or write it for your children or grandchildren. Could be everything you can remember, or just a particular event.

I have often heard of Grannies,or old Aunts who have thrown away all the family photos and parafanalia which is such a shame for family historians, so this would be a different idea to pass on family memories.

If you have any to share, that you think would be of interest, perhaps you might like to send them in to the NPN, or share them on the Carbrooke Heritage Website.

It is surprising how one memory can spark another.

Don’t forget the following events we have planned:

9th May (In the School 7pm) Jan Godfrey will be giving a talk on ‘Carbrooke School and links with the Americans during World War 2’.

20th June (In the School 7pm) Family History Workshop, Anybody with an interest is welcome to come along,

22nd June Carbrooke Fete. We will be hosting a stall, with some of our items and reference material available.

11th July Documents Evening. (In the School 7pm) We invite anybody with any interesting documents – photos, house deeds, or anything else of interest to bring along, to be logged/copied.
