Carbrooke Heritage Group News October 2013

On 26th September Helen Riley will be giving a talk on ‘Carbrooke and the Knights Hospitallers’, As you may be aware Carbrooke in medieval time was an extremely wealthy and reknown village, as it housed the ‘Commanderie of the Knights of St John’  a number of whom fought in the crusades. This will be a fascinating talk, as the modern day Knights Hospitallers are the St John Ambulance organisation, and their Norfolk Headquarters in Norwich is known as ‘Carbrooke House’.

All welcome at 7pm in the Church, and followed by refreshments.

2nd October 10am. We will be discovering and logging interesting features, trees and plants on the Caudle Springs to Aerolite footpath. All welcome. Meet by the ‘Caudle Springs’ footpath sign.

To be followed up at our next meeting in the Village Hall, when we will be studying old maps of the area, in particular noting our footpaths. Date to be decided, in Carbrooke Village Hall. All welcome

Ghostly Goings On in Carbrooke

The Heritage Group has been approached by a group in Norwich who investigate Paranormal activity. They have heard rumours of strange occurrences in Carbrooke and are interested to hear from anybody who would like them to investigate.

We run a paranormal investigation group called NIGHT. (Norwich Investigation Ghost Hunting Team), and would be very interested to see if you know of anyone in the area who has had strange happenings in their properties. We would love to contact them and then pop along, if agreed and arranged to do a paranormal investigation.

Sounds interesting…..it would be fascinating to hear if anybody follows this up.
