Carbrooke Heritage News September 2013

After the excitement of the summer break, children have returned to school, students to university and we return to work after holidays, we can look forward to several months of ‘ordinary time’ to get back into routine again. Although it is lovely to have a change of routine, it is also important to have a quieter ordered time too, to give us time to think and reflect. We have many things to consider, there are so many essential building repairs required to keep the building in use, as well as working out how to move forward.

We are also being asked to make changes to the way each church pays its share towards the work of the church and payment of its staff, which at this time, is proving a grave concern to us. It is difficult to know where to begin, but as with anything in life if we start small, rather than worrying about the whole task in one go, so much more can be achieved and unexpected events may occur to help us along.

We have our Harvest Festival on 29th September, when we invite the other Churches from the Benefice to join us for this important Festival in our village, please come along as we celebrate our good fortune in living in a country and climate producing an abundance of food for ourselves. We are lucky to have so much to spare, and any donations of produce to decorate the church will be donated to the ‘Watton Food Bank’ afterwards, which in these difficult times helps people in need in our own community.

Talking of sharing, we will be following the Harvest service with a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch in the church. Everyone is welcome, and as ever, we can be sure of a delicious Harvest feast! Anyone wishing to bring along something to share, please contact me as I have a food list.
